What a pile of bollocks.
If you don’t know, in a year long court case, Apple sued Samsung for “stolen designs from Apple to make smartphones and computer tablets”.
The UK (being the only country in this case to have some SENSE) threw out the case. It didn’t go any further presumably because if you LOOK with your EYES you can see the fucking DIFFERENCES.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 at the moment and, surprisingly, I love it (I’ve had nothing but HTC Anroid phones up till now). I’m moving up to the S3 on Tuesday but I will miss the S2, its a good phone. In large part, thanks to Android. An OS, I might add, that has a billion times the functionality of iOS devices.
Who in the hell put a “patent” on a rectangle with curves is what I want to know, and since when did “black” and “white” make such a fucking difference?
Ironically, Apple applauded the court “for finding Samsung’s behaviour wilful and for sending a loud and clear message that stealing isn’t right”.
Really? Stealing? Like you’ve stolen the Android notification bar? Steve Jobs, dead or not, was willing to rip of everyone else’s ideas but when Samsung put out vastly different phone that idiots seem to think looks like an iPhone its not OK? iPhone has one button on the front. Every iteration of the galaxy has had at least three buttons, and more than double the functionality at that.
iOS started with virtually nothing. You couldn’t video record, the camera was shit, you couldn’t do anything with bluetooth (you still cant) you couldn’t tether or have a portable wifi hotspot, it (still) doesn’t support flash, it couldn’t multi-task, and the deal breaker for me is you HAD to use iTunes, the phone wouldn’t work out of the box without it. I HATE iTunes.
Android could, and has always been able to do all of those things. Out of the box. Many of those things iOS devices are now capable of, and half of them have been lifted from Android. The most obvious example today, is the notification center, courtesy of Android. You’re welcome Apple, although it will have to change it eventually when Google’s patent goes through.
So I think Samsung should be appealed. They haven’t done anything wrong. They just made a successful line of products and Apple doesn’t like it. More and more people are moving to Android, and if you ask me, the world is better off with something that’s open and free of the bullshit that Apple spouts.
Rant over :P
I am coming into some money and … as is the case with me, just because I love computers, I decided to do some well needed upgrades.
As much as I love my current configuration, it is a little bottle-necked with the CPU not being able to keep up with some games (Bulletstorm, Deus Ex to name a couple).
But dual-core is … kind of old, by today standards. If your building a gaming rig, you NEED quad core. Primarily to keep up with some of the more demanding games but also it kind of future proofs you a little bit. You’ll have plenty to be going on with and by the time you need to upgrade, easy peasy.
I have, for the longest time, had mostly intel CPU’s. Intels, however, are more expensive, and I was lucky to get my dual core at the price that I did.
AMD’s offer more performance for considerably less the intel. For instance, If I was to upgrade with my current motherboard, I’d be limited to a 775 socket, and a core2quad. The best performing one, a 3.0Ghz, ranges from 100 to 150 on ebay, and is considerably more on amazon. The cheapest I found was a used 2.6Ghz at around 60 to 80 pounds.
For 80 pounds, I can get myself a brand new AMD Bulldozer FX at 3.6 Ghz and that’s overclock-able to well over 4Ghz
So, my list of upgrades are a new case, since mine is extremely crowded gets hot. New motherboard that supports am3+ CPU’s and DDR3 RAM. a new AMD cpu, which will be new for me, since I’ve dealt with Intel for so long. My graphics will remain the same, and XFX ATI Radeon HD5750.
Overall, it should be a kick ass system, and I cant wait to get started.
